We were commissioned to complete a full home remodel and landscape design for a vacation property on a private vineyard. Using the unique characteristics of the existing brick home, we expanded the interior space to feel more contemporary and inviting. Windows were replaced to offer unobstructed views of the vineyard and Mount Garfield from all angles within the home. New fixtures and finishes were selected to give a rustic feel but maintain a modern edge to the entire home. The main focal point in the home is the large fireplace constructed with ShouSugi Ban - a Japanese style of burning timber for preservation.
Our clients wanted easy access to the property from the home's interior, which became a major focus for the landscape design. Views of the vineyard and surrounding landscape are highlighted in each of the outdoor spaces that have been created. We also took into consideration the use and functionality of these spaces such as watching the sunset from the West Patio and outdoor grilling while family and friends use the pool area. Plant selection and placement will help create privacy from surrounding properties. Tree location will offer necessary shade during the height of the summer months.
This project is still underway, with the landscaping to be completed in Spring of 2024. The addition of a barn on the property and pond restoration will also commence next year.
